Visitors to the Vancouver Aquarium can now get a closer look at the facility’s four-day-old baby beluga. The aquarium is allowing groups of 30 people at a time into its underwater gallery to observe the calf nursing from her mother, Aurora. Spokesman Kent
Hurl says the unnamed calf’s ability to swim and dive with her mom is starting to improve.
She’s also interacting with two other belugas, her sister Qila and Qila’s calf, Tiqa, who’s celebrating her first birthday. Tiqa has been a star attraction at the aquarium since her birth last year and the new calf is expected to draw even larger crowds.
Visitors will be able to view a video of the new calf’s birth last Sunday and get tips on how to tell the whales apart.
